About Emma - the coach
Emma has over 30 years of experience coaching and developing table tennis players of all ages and abilities. A qualified PE teacher, she is currently Head of PE at a large secondary school with more than 2,000 students.
Throughout her career, Emma has successfully introduced countless beginners to the sport while also supporting more advanced players in reaching their potential. She has extensive experience delivering table tennis within GCSE PE programmes and has provided specialist training for PE teachers seeking to develop and enhance table tennis provision in their schools.Emma holds the UKCC Level 3 Head Coach qualification and works with a range of league and competitive players through individual coaching sessions, helping them improve their technical, tactical and mental performance.
In 2023, Emma was selected for the prestigious SHECoaches Programme, a two-year initiative designed to develop the next generation of outstanding female coaches and performance leaders.
In January 2025, Emma was invited to join the England Women’s Senior Team at the ETTU Stage 1 Qualifiers in Sarajevo, where she shadowed the England Head Coach and gained valuable insight into elite international coaching environments.
This experience was further enhanced in October 2025 when she travelled to Zadar, Croatia, for the ETTU European Team Championships. There, she had the unique opportunity to observe Europe’s leading players both in competition and within high-performance training settings, further strengthening her understanding of the demands of elite-level table tennis.
In May 2026, Emma was once again selected as part of the support team for the England Women’s squad at the World Team Table Tennis Championships in London. This was an exceptional opportunity to observe the world’s very best players up close, both in competition and within the training hall environment. The experience provided further invaluable insight into the standards, preparation and professionalism required at the highest level of international table tennis. Emma has also served as a Coach Educator for Table Tennis England, delivering UKCC Level 1 and Level 2 coaching qualifications to aspiring coaches and helping to develop coaching expertise across the country.
In June 2026, Emma was appointed as one of Table Tennis England’s Coach Mentors, a prestigious role focused on supporting, guiding and developing the next generation of coaches. Drawing on her extensive experience in education, coaching and player development, Emma now works with coaches to enhance their knowledge, confidence and effectiveness, helping to strengthen the future of table tennis coaching in England.
Emma is passionate about helping players of all standards achieve their goals, whether they are picking up a bat for the first time, striving for league success, or pursuing performance-level ambitions. Her combination of educational expertise, high-performance coaching experience and genuine enthusiasm for the sport enables her to support players and coaches alike in reaching their full potential.
