Spin to Win coaching afternoon

Two groups of eight players recently joined Emma for an engaging two-hour coaching session focused on developing key attacking and control skills in table tennis. The session centred around improving topspin against backspin, controlling topspin rallies, and generating more spin on serves.

To build confidence and consistency, each skill was initially broken down and practised in isolation. This allowed players to really focus on their technique, timing, and understanding of each shot without the pressure of a full rally. Once players became more comfortable, these skills were gradually combined into more game-specific situations, helping them apply what they had learned in a realistic context.

The session finished with dedicated time on serving, where players worked on producing more spin and improving the placement of their serves to gain a tactical advantage from the very first shot.

It was a really fun and productive couple of hours with both groups. The players showed great effort throughout, embraced the challenges, and clearly enjoyed developing their skills in a positive and supportive environment.
